Start your journey today, with apprenticeships
In summary, apprenticeships provide a diverse pathway to personal and professional development, equipping individuals with the skills, knowledge, and financial stability required for a successful and fulfilling career journey.
CHOOSING AN APPRENTICESHIP
There are different rates of pay for apprentices depending on your age and what year of your apprenticeship you’re in.
Your employment contract should confirm your rate of pay.
- Aged 16 to 18– The current National Minimum Wage rate for an apprentice is £5.28 per hour.
- Aged 19 or over and in your first year – The current National Minimum Wage rate for an apprentice is £5.28 per hour.
- Aged 19 or over and have completed your first year – You’re entitled to the National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage rate for your age.
In England, apprenticeships are available to individuals aged 16 and older, with no upper age limit.
You must be living in England and not in full-time education. You need to secure a job with an employer offering apprenticeships. Entry requirements and eligibility vary by apprenticeship type. Some may require specific qualifications. Check your right to work in the UK if you’re not a UK or EU citizen.
